The school is unique in that it is the only public school in New South Wales that provides high-quality visual arts and design education. The school provides a rich, diverse and comprehensive visual art and design projects, as well as other traditional courses and opportunities to participate in inter-school and intra-school sports activities. Students have the opportunity to use digital and traditional media to learn visual art and design projects they are interested in through various classroom and extracurricular activities.

Dulwich Middle School is close to the shopping mall of Dulwich Hill, about 5 kilometers away from Sydney. It is an active and international inner city area that integrates multiculturalism.
